AMALGAMATE
Amalgamate takes you on a journey through the chaotic and colourful streets of India, with backdrops of fiery skies and gleaming waters.
My final graduate collection- Amalgamate aims to bring colour , celebration and nature into the home.
After a year long process of exploration within my sketchbook, with different techniques such as weave, ceramics, embroidery and print - Amalgamate is a fusion of different creative methods I have connected with. Photography plays a significant role within the collection, with hints of photographs making the viewer further delve into my story.
Focusing on handmade textile methods used in India, the final collection includes digitally manipulated prints including painting, and scanned in hand embroidery. Further enhancing the lush silks and linens ,are pops of colour and texture through hand embellishment.
The collection consists of four mini colour collections - Burnt, Flow, Light and Deep, each representing different moods.
My degree show piece is a digitally printed 4m length of 100% silk, with layers of photography, painting and embroidery. It is further enhanced with hand embellishment.
